Hear ye, hear ye, The Fairy Tales of the Brother’s Grimm celebrates it’s 200th anniversary this year and with that comes a most extraordinary book. Those terrific folks of Taschen, have outdone themselves and published a very special book. It contains carefully curated illustrations by famous illustrators from the 1820’s to the 1950’s. One of the things I love about the design are the many newly commissioned black silhouettes, specially created for this book. They beautifully compliment each of the varied illustration styles, which is no small feat.

Also noteworthy is that UNESCO has a “Memory of the World Register”, which recognizes Grimm’s collection of popular folk and fairy tales as culturally vital part of world history. I wholly concur.
