With so much geometry, oversize knits and military fare among the Fall 2012 offerings, it was a delight to see the work of Prabal Gurung. The collection is a journey through hell and heaven made of feathers, furs, silks, satins, and the occasional well placed (or not so well placed) ruffle. His constructions of sheer punch outs, iridescent neoprenes, and blacks, blues and grays of any material evolved into lightness with whites, ivories, and golds. A noteworthy return this season are his shimmery prints – a combination of blue roses with Georgia O’Keeffe’s cow skulls. All together, the dueling forces frame the female silhouette so beautifully.
