Following the fun of trying on Kristin Hanson‘s incredible creations, a decision had to be made! Her Heliconia earrings had me smitten, so we began to explore how to make them into something uniquely mine. She sketched several ideas of earrings, that complimented my aesthetic and would carry me from day into night.

It is a real luxury to have someone so passionate about colored diamonds share her tremendous knowledge. Of course there is a colored diamond for every color under the sun, but it is mesmerizing to observe, first hand, the wide variations of champagne, yellow, green and pink tones!

While I have quite a lot of pink garments, I wanted to incorporate splashes of color that would compliment my broader wardrobe. I had never been exposed to moss green diamonds and was drawn to their subtle hues. She suggested matching brilliant cut moss diamonds to serve as the post, set in yellow gold. Added to this would be a blending of honey and pink champagne diamonds, among the diamond pave in platinum.

Now my lovely earrings are set on their path to becoming a reality and stay tuned for when I “meet” them…

Our Bauble this week is about to change the meaning of “the winter blues”!

This is all thanks to Leon Megé, who knows how to drop a pair of sapphires beneath a few diamond friends. Even more wonderfully unusual is that these sapphires have that unique color changing ability, akin to a certain steely blue-hued stunner, the Hope Diamond. Ideally matched, the stones are cut with a perfection unheard of in a pair of high grade natural unheated sapphires. The antique cushion, pear, and round diamonds from which they dangle are eloquently arranged and beautifully balanced.

If I am not mistaken, these baubles give reason to celebrate the winter blues!

THE SKINNY:

13.26 carat unheated sapphires
0.60 carat GIA certified diamonds E/VVS (vintage cushion cut)
0.08 carat diamonds F/VS (pear shape and round cut)
platinum

Price available upon request

Recently, I visited Leon’s new showroom and had the pleasure of experiencing more of his creations. Below are a few of these beautiful baubles…

TheWeeklyBaubleAnabelaChanPinterestBlogAs it seems we have plunged straight into the frigid depths of winter, an escape in jewels is a most welcome diversion! With this in mind, The Weekly Bauble takes us away to the exotic orient through the dreamy, romantic fantasy world of Anabela Chan.

While Anabela is London and Paris based, her extensive travels and nature are infused in her elegant, sculptural jewels. Initially she trained as an architect, specializing in print and embroidery design, and worked with the likes of Sir Richard Rogers, Alexander McQueen and All Saints. Following this, she returned to jewelry and completed her studies at the Royal College of Art, winning 5 prestigious awards. Her flagship boutique has just recently launched in London’s Ham Yard Hotel, where one can immerse in her marvelous menagerie of beautiful art objects and jewelry.

Our bauble is Anabela’s Emerald Bloomingdale Bracelet from the Fleurs d’Elixir collection, inspired by exotic orchids. The bejeweled flower, hand pave-set with 306 white lab-grown diamonds in 360 degrees, is also a detachable brooch.

THE SKINNY:

38 carats white lab-grown diamonds
green agate beads
18 karat white gold and silver

Price available upon request

The bracelets are also designed with amethyst, ruby, and black onyx. The matching ring, earrings and necklace are available to complete a stunning suite.

As a chill takes hold of the air, a bauble reminiscent of a warm, treasured escape would be well-timed. The Weekly Bauble I share today is just that!

This charming bracelet of bejeweled, ripe, flowering fruit is one piece among a collection by Lexmond vs Lexmond for Royal Asscher. Of course Royal Asscher is a much celebrated jewelry house and “Lexmond vs Lexmond” refers to the talented sisters, Jetteke and Lieke van Lexmond of Amsterdam – one, a fashion editor and the other a TV personality. During a trip to the Seychelles, the sisters were inspired by the lush vegetation unique to this archipelago, including Coco de Mer. These rare, flowering fruits have been beautifully reimagined, to burst with bountiful color and sparkle with life. At the heart of this joyful collection is an appreciation and celebration of the bond that women share.

THE SKINNY:

2.66 carat diamonds
4.82 carat emeralds
6.42 carat rubies
0.62 carat pink sapphire
18 karat gold

Price available upon request

Back in October, the launch of artist Greg Lauren’s limited edition fragrance collaboration with Barney’s New York came across the radar. The custom embellishment of fabric, paper and paint is impressive in itself, but having seen the creative journey of the bottle in video “The Making of an Original” left a lasting impression of what bespoke means. Today a dear friend gifted me the fragrance. Beyond the incredibly special scent created with Master Perfumer Ralf Schweiger, I recalled the thought and artfulness that went into crafting something so beautifully memorable.

The limited-edition of 3,000 can be purchased at Barney’s New York.

Tod's, luxury footwear, Tod's mobile app, Tod's ItalianPortraits, ItalianPortraits

It is no great secret that image is everything – and that luxury brands must tell authentic stories that live and breathe in more meaningful and engaging mediums. Luxury footwear brand Tod’s has recently done just that through the release of a uniquely beautiful “book” of portraits that ventures deep into the heart of the brand itself by featuring what makes up Tod’s esteemed heritage: the elegant people and the captivating places of Italy… and it’s mobile. While it is a marketing tool showcasing personal fashion, it feels like an intimate, personal book of family portraits and experiences (both in still images as well as video). The premise behind the images of style and Italianeese as stated in the Info segment of the app: “At a time when a negative mood seems to reign in Italy, this volume offers a positive portrait of personalities and beautiful places, all diverse, all winners.” The BeautifulCurious criticism is that one obvious ingredient is missing: the very elegant Italian women who also enjoy Tod’s. “Italian Portraits” is available at the App Store and can be experienced on the Tod’s website.
