Coco Chanel, MoMA, Bijoux de Diamants, 1932 Tribute Collection, high jewelry, Chanel, Chanel Fine Jewellery, Curious Luxury

Something otherworldly entered the stratosphere, by way of a certain Coco Chanel back in 1932. And for a very short time (and for a fortunate few) it can be observed in a transformed Chanel galaxy not far from the MoMA from October 9th – 16th. What is it you ask? It is the extraordinary 1932 Tribute Collection of high-jewelry, celebrating 80 years of Chanel history and commitment to the fine jewelry craft as an art form. Ms. Chanel’s first collection debuted during the depression on November 7, 1932 titled “Bijoux de Diamants” with the intent “to cover women in constellations.” And she does so still today with 80 exceptional pieces that dazzle in diamonds and platinum, bold and pearls, rock crystal and sapphires – it is a bespoke universe of beauty in small pocket of New York City. For those who did not receive their private invitation, you can get starry-eyed by way of those lovely folks at Gotham Magazine.

Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel, Chanel Haute Couture 2013, Chanel Couture 2013, New Vintage, Coco Chanel

Wonderful things appeared on the Chanel Haute Couture catwalk yesterday: Karl presented work that was classically glorious and beautifully demure. There was a welcoming softness in the color palette as well as the sheer materials, but what made the collection spectacular was the luminous glow of glitter. It flowed through edging on evening dresses, wide wool trousers, tights, and of course the signature tweed suits. Welcome to the world, New Vintage.

The BeautifulCurious most desired dress of the Chanel Haute Couture Collection is:

Once again, the forces of Karl (with Carine Roitfeld) make a dynamic statement with the understated, this time with that other House of Chanel classic: The Little Black Jacket. And it takes the form of an exhibition, an online experience, and a book featuring over 100 celebrities, artists and provocateurs wearing this iconic – and ever versatile – jacket, whilst adding their own signature twists. It’s a brilliant sensation that is inspiring, timeless and oh so Coco:
