Narcisco Rodriguez, Sophie Theallet, Rodarte, spring 2013 ready-to-wear, New York Fashion Week

It is now apparent that there is quite an infusion of sex in the collections this season. Narcisco Rodriguez plunged right in with his provocatively elegant slip dresses made of billowy silks and sheers. He dabbled so eloquently with color combinations of orange with magenta, teal with olive, and black with with white. And not be out classed in the realm of sexuality, Sophie Theallet presented garments that confidently reveal skin – if not in the front, than certainly in the back. Her dragonfly theme was played out by means of sheer organza layering, mimicking iridescent wings, as well as through pattern in her signature bohemian prints. The color palette exuded a richness in souk tones of oranges, pinks, and teals. Finally, we transition from dragonflies to Dungeons and Dragons with Rodarte‘s offerings inspired by “Medieval and fantasy role-playing games”.┬áThe collection as a whole could be seen as a seductive armory for warrior-women, sumptuously structured with leather, lace, silk, chains and embroidery. Fashion, after all, can be a battlefield….
