BiennaleDesAntiquaires2014BlogHeaderFor the next 10 days, the Place Vendôme is host to arguably the most important event in the jewelry calendar: La Biennale Paris. While this curious mind remains stateside, the next best way to celebrate the beauty of such exquisite pieces is to curate a series of jewels that we admire. Each day from September 11 – 21, we will present a selection here, as well as on twitter @BeautifulCurio and Instagram @BeautifulCurious… stay tuned!

The ever lovely Maria Doulton, The Jewellery Editor, did journey to Paris for the occasion and her exclusive peek of Biennale treasures can be discovered below.

Dior, Dior Haute Joaillerie, Fleurs d’excès, Gagosian, Victoire de CastellaneShimmer-shammer fantasy is all that comes to mind when I see the wondrous work by Victoire de Castellane of Dior Haute Joaillerie. She conceives flowers and creatures that nature would envy and spins spectacular tales with gemstones that words cannot relay. One can discover the magic behind her creations in video:

In March 2011, she had a solo show at Gagosian in Paris titled “Fleurs d’excès” (Flowers of Excess), for which she created 10 inspired works that recall myths and fairy tales and transforms them into wearable, elegant hybrid jewelry.

Should I have the pleasure of wearing one of her creations, I’m not sure if the jewelry could beam more than I would.
